Here are some frequently asked questions (FAQs) and answers to the most common questions received at Mt. Pearl Electrolysis Clinic about our hair removal process.
What is Electrolysis?
Electrolysis is the only hair removal method approved by the FDA for permanent removal of unwanted hair. Regardless of the cause – heredity, metabolic, or hormonal conditions – the electrolysis offered by Mt. Pearl Electrolysis Clinc (and our sister company Derma Electrolysis Clinic – Corner Brook) will permanently remove unwanted hair.
Does electrolysis work?
Yes. Electrolysis has been proven to work and it is the only method approved by the FDA for permanent removal of unwanted hair. Regrowth is prevented rather than just removed temporarily as with other methods of hair removal.
Will electrolysis work for me?
Yes, electrolysis will most certainly work, regardless of skin types, hair types, skin colors, hair colors, and areas of the body. Hair will be eliminated at each and every treatment. However, some regrowth will occur because previous forms of temporary methods used by the clients will have affected the formation of the follicle. With repeated treatments will cause fine hair growth until the hair cell is destroyed and hair growth is no longer possible.
Is their science behind electrolysis?
Yes, electrolysis is based on science. A small electric current is transmitted a sterile filament (or needle) directly into the hair follicle. This current will destroy the dermal papilla (the nutrition center of the hair) which causes the hair to regenerate and grow. Electrolysis prevents this from happening.
Why do people get electrolysis hair removal?
The reasons for wanting hair removal vary from person to person. Some feel that hair is just an unwelcome maintenance routine that takes a lot of time. However, most often the unwanted hair creates self-consciousness and self-esteem problems that are serious enough to impair relationships with other people. In these instances, the unwanted hair gets in the way of a person’s confidence, social life, work, sports, schedules or even self-expression. Utilizing the electrolysis hair removal procedure available through Mt. Pearl Electrolysis Clinic may help you find your inner-self and regain both your confidence and self-esteem.
Is all electrolysis the same?
There are three types of electrolysis used today. These include galvanic (current produces a chemical reaction), thermolysis (short-wave which produces heat) and a modality that blends the two. Regardless of the type of electrolysis used, they all result in effective permanent hair removal.
Does electrolysis have any side effects on the skin?
There are some side effects immediately following electrolysis treatment. There may be a temporary redness or tenderness to the skin and this will often vary with each individual. The latest technology has made electrolysis hair removal more comfortable and effective than ever before. After your treatment, your electrologist will provide you with post treatment instructions and any personal attention you may need follow. Rest assured that electrolysis is safe and the Electrologists at Mt. Pearl Electrolysis Clinic will assure you of the best care following your hair removal.
Does electrolysis hurt?
The procedure is safe and involves little or no pain at all depending on the area being treated with electrolysis. The sensation experienced will vary. During your electrolysis hair removal procedure, you should expect to feel some discomfort, especially when the treatment first starts. This discomfort subsides as the patient becomes used to it as the hair removal procedure progresses. Some patients have indicated that there is no real pain, rather a “warmth” or “tingle” and tickle from the small electrical current used through the hair removal process.
How many electrolysis procedures will I need?
The number of procedures required will vary from patient to patient. Electrolysis targets individual hairs and the larger the area, the more treatments required. Mt. Pearl Electrolysis Clinic will provide you with a consultation to ensure that your expectations are fully met.
